Clay Scofield

President and CEO

Guntersville, Alabama native Clay Scofield, after earning a degree from Auburn University in Agricultural Business and Economics, started a commercial poultry operation called Clay Scofield Farms. In 2010, he was elected to the Alabama State Senate at 30 years old and was reelected three more times without opposition. In 2020, he was elected unanimously by his Senate colleagues to serve as Senate Majority Leader. In 2023, Clay left the Senate to join the Business Council of Alabama as Executive Vice President. In October of 2025, he left BCA to become President and CEO of the Energy Institute of Alabama. Clay and his wife Jade have one son, Will, and they currently live in Montgomery and Guntersville.
