What Is the Energy Institute of Alabama (EIA)?
The Institute is a non-profit organization made up of industry leaders who want to work together to promote the energy industry. Our plan is to educate the public about the importance of the industry to the state, advocate for energy policies that will enhance the economy of Alabama, and support economic development.
What is the purpose of the Institute?
Our mission is to promote reliable, affordable, and clean energy to help grow our economy, create high-paying jobs, and build public support for Alabama’s energy industry.
Who are the industry leaders who make up the EIA?
The EIA board is made up of representatives from six major energy companies in Alabama: Alabama Municipal Electric Authority, Alabama Rural Electric Association, Alabama Power Company, Electric Cities of Alabama, PowerSouth Energy and Tennessee Valley Authority. We hope to have a wide array of energy industry participants involved with the Institute.
Who are the Senior Policy Advisors and what is their role?
Our Advisors are experts in varied sectors of the energy industry, such as nuclear energy, power plant management, business development, research and development, engineering, bioenergy and other areas. These Advisors will contribute, from time to time, to the conversation about issues that affect the energy sector in our state and nation.
Will the Institute engage in the debate about energy policy?
In furtherance of its purpose, the Institute will engage in the policymaking process. EIA’s mission is always to move the energy sector in Alabama forward – whether through advocating policies in the legislative or regulatory arena or by providing solid research to the public at large.
